Teen Therapy Exeter

A space where teens feel seen, heard, and supported.

Being a teenager today is tough – like, really tough. Between school stress, social pressures, identity struggles, and a digital world that never stops moving, it’s a lot to carry. At The Good Life Therapy Centre in Exeter, we offer a calm, non-judgmental space where teens can talk things through with someone who genuinely gets it.

So, whether your teen is feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, withdrawn, or just not quite themselves, therapy can help. We support teens in building emotional awareness, confidence, and resilience so they can handle life’s challenges with more clarity and confidence.

Our approach to working with teens is modern, down-to-earth, and genuinely supportive. No stuffy clinical vibes—just real conversations that lead to real change.

A Note For Parents and Caregivers

We know how impossibly hard it can be to see your child struggling. You want to help but they might find it hard to talk to you about what’s going on. That’s okay. Therapy gives them a safe space to work things through at their own pace.

We’re here to support your teen – but also you. If you have questions about the process or how best to support your child outside of sessions, we’re happy to help guide you. When appropriate, we may check in with you to offer insights or suggestions for support at home.

How It Works:

We start with an initial consultation—usually with the parent(s) or caregiver(s)—to understand what’s going on and how we can help. From there, we’ll agree next steps.

Confidentiality is a key part of building trust in therapy. That means your teen needs to know they can speak freely. We’ll always let you know if there’s a serious risk of harm, but otherwise, sessions are private between the therapist and your teen. This trust is paramount in the efficacy of therapy.

You’re welcome to reach out with any questions. We’re here to make the process feel as smooth and supportive as possible.

I’m a Clinical Psychologist offering psychological support to children, adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties related to their physical and mental health.

The work I enjoy most is helping individuals cope with the challenges of long‑term health conditions, chronic pain, and the psychological impact of injury, illness, or trauma.

My approach recognises the close connection between physical and mental wellbeing, and focuses on reducing distress and improving quality of life by understanding these mind-body links.

I use evidence‑based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT).

When working with young children, I use creative approaches such as stories and sandtray EMDR to help them process difficult experiences in a way that feels safe and playful.

I offer a free, 20 minute video call to check that I’m a good fit for the support you are looking for. We might agree to book an initial assessment together afterwards, or I can suggest other places to look if this is a better option.

What is counselling?

I describe counselling as a chance to PauseExploreUnderstand…and Change

You can take time to pause and talk with someone who is separate from your everyday life. We can explore the things that are important to you to build connections and understanding that can help to create positive change in your life.

How can it help?

Do you find yourself stuck in the same things over and over again?

Do you struggle in some of your relationships or do you feel anxious or low time and time again?

Maybe you’re feeling generally lost in life and need some support to figure out what’s next.

You might be looking to process trauma or seeking to understand your emotions and reactions.

If you would like to understand yourself better and make some changes that will last, I can support you along the way.

What to expect

I have many years of experience supporting teens.

I am trained in a range of techniques meaning your counselling is specific to you. My trauma-informed approach means that we can zoom out and explore how life, both past and present, may be contributing to the challenges that you are facing currently. This way of practicing focuses on you as a whole person and empowers you to make sustainable positive change.

My work is Neurodiversity affirming and I will support you as you cultivate the life you want to lead.

If you are struggling at home or at school. If relationships are feeling difficult or you’re struggling with self confidence, I can support you to explore anything that is important to you.

With a compassionate and empowering approach, I aim to support you to navigate the challenges that you are facing and cultivate the life you want to lead.

I hold advanced specialist training cert. in counselling children and young people. With extensive experience working in mainstream schools, specialist education provisions and local counselling organisations, I understand the challenges that you may be facing at school or in other areas of your life.

I am an accredited professional member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
