Good Life Therapy Agreement
Before we begin our work together, it is important that we have a working agreement so that we both know what to expect. Please carefully read through the following agreement to find out what’s involved.
About Me
My name is Devon McGahey and I am a practicing psychotherapist in the UK. I hold a Master’s degree, am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through The Beck Institute of CBT, and certified in Maternal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International.
I am experienced in holding online and face to face psychotherapy sessions; however, not all types of issues can be resolved through psychotherapy and I will advise you if we both agree that a referral to a suitable alternative source of support in the area you live in would be more beneficial.
Confidentiality
All my psychotherapy work is confidential. The only time that I may break confidentiality is:
- if you are at serious risk of causing harm to yourself or others
- child abuse is disclosed
- you share information about proposed act of terrorism
- when I am compelled to do so by law.
If any of the above situations occurred and it is safe to do so, I will discuss with you beforehand on how I will disclose this information. If at any point during our psychotherapy arrangement I felt that you were in need of emergency support, I may ask for your consent to contact your GP.
It is strongly urged that all psychotherapists receive supervision. As such, there may be situations where I receive supervision as it relates to your case. Any identifying information will remain confidential, and your identity will never be revealed.
I value your trust and, as such, I hold a Data Protection Registration Certificate through the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). I am now required by law to protect your personal information.
Psychotherapy Session
Psychotherapy sessions last for 50-55 minutes and take place either online via Zoom or at my office in Topsham – 20A High Street, EX3 0EA (THD Building, First Floor). For face to face appointments, please feel free to have a seat on the sofas on the ground floor. I will collect you at the time of our meeting. For virtual sessions, you will receive a link at the time of booking the appointment. Please join the meeting and wait in the virtual waiting room. I will invite you to join the call at our agreed time and date. Sessions are typically weekly; however, I encourage my clients to schedule as they see fit.
Fees and Payments
Individual psychotherapy sessions are £65. Payment is made at the time of your first booking. Subsequent payments can be made up to 24 hours after your session is complete and an email will be sent with instructions to make payment electronically.
Payment may be made electronically through my website at www.goodlife-therapy.com or by direct bank transfer.

Security
Please ensure that you are using a secure, private computer and not a work or public computer. I encourage you to find a quiet, comfortable space where no one can disturb or hear you.
Technology breakdown arrangements
There’s no doubt that technology can fail us at times. Should you ever experience a technical issue which prevents you from video talking as agreed, please contact me by email at devon@goodlife-therapy.com so that we can discuss how to re-arrange our session. If I experience a technical shutdown for any reason, please check your email as I will contact you immediately to keep you informed of time delays or need to reschedule.
Personal Crisis Procedures
Unfortunately, I cannot provide emergency services for my clients. If you find yourself in a major crisis and are considering serious self-harm, it would be vital to get immediate help. This could include contacting your GP, or going to your nearest accident and emergency department (A & E). You could also call the Samaritans on 08457 909090 or visit their website www.samaritans.org
Cancellation Policy
Please give as much notice as possible for cancellations/postponement via email at devon@goodlife-therapy.com. A cancellation fee of your normal payment will be charged for sessions cancelled with less than 24 hour’s notice. If our schedules allow, rescheduled appointments within the same week will not incur a cancellation fee. Of course, I understand that life happens – sick kids, family emergencies, etc. I will always try to show grace in these instances.
What Happens Next?
If you are happy to proceed with online or face to face therapy on this basis, please sign and date this agreement and send it back via email to devon@goodlife-therapy.com. Please kindly note that if payment has not been made and/or your signed agreement has not been received, your session will need to be rescheduled.
I look forward to meeting with you and working together for as many sessions as you find helpful.
